BEIRUT—In a unanimous decision last week, the International Union of
Socialist Youth voted to grant full membership status to the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation Youth Organizations.

The ARF Youth representatives took part in the IUSY general congress from Nov.
19 to Nov. 22 in Mexico, where a petition for full membership dated June 29,
1998 by the ARF Bureau Youth Office was reviewed and unanimously approved.

The resolution to grant full membership status to the ARF Youth was proposed
by IUSY Secretary General Lisa Pellinc who stated that "it is our (the IUSY
leadership's) pleasure to propose the elevation of the ARF Youth from observer
to full member status."

Following the unanimous approval of this motion, the congress welcomed the ARF
Youth Organization with fervent applause.

Remarks were made by the general secratary of AYF  Arthur Khatchatrian, who thanked the congress and pledged the ARF Youth's continued active role in the international socialist youth body.

This new status for the ARF Youth Organization provides a new avenue of
activities for the organization which has worked with the IUSY for more than a
decade.
